Notice of Upcoming Privacy Policy Updates

The privacy policy is being updated periodically to include new tracking and data collection practices as additional features are integrated into the site. Please check back regularly for the most up-to-date information. For questions or concerns, please contact [email protected].

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string, are collected to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from the email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if it is being used. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of a comment, the profile picture is visible to the public in the context of the comment.

Media

If images are uploaded to the website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If a comment is left on the site, there is an option to saving the name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for convenience so that details do not have to be filled in again when leaving another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If the login page is visited, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if the browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when the browser is closed.

When logging in, several cookies will be set up to save login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If “Remember Me” is selected, the login will persist for two weeks. If logging out of the account, the login cookies will be removed.

If an article is edited or published, an additional cookie will be saved in the browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Tracking and Analytics

The Pinterest Tag is used on the website to track user interactions and improve marketing efforts. This tag collects information about browsing behavior, purchase activities, and other interactions with the website. ‘Automatic enhanced match’ has been enabled, allowing hashed customer information such as email addresses to be sent to Pinterest to better match conversions.

Pinterest may use this information in accordance with their privacy policy, which can be reviewed here.

By using the website, consent is given to the collection and use of data as described in this policy. To opt-out of tracking, adjust browser settings or use a tool like the Network Advertising Initiative’s opt-out tool.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about the user, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor interaction with that embedded content, including tracking interaction if the user has an account and is logged in to that website.

With whom data is shared

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

If a comment is left, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so follow-up comments can be recognized and approved automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on the website (if any), the personal information provided in the user profile is also stored. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If there is an account on this site, or comments have been left, an exported file of the personal data held can be requested, including any data provided. A request to erase any personal data held can also be made. This does not include any data that is obliged to be kept for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
